Bob Marley & The Wailers’ ‘Exodus’ Certified Silver In The UK

Bob Marley & The Wailers’ iconic song Exodus, the title track from the 1977 album, has climbed the ranks to becoming certified Silver in the United Kingdom.

On Friday (March 1) the track was granted the British Silver Award after it surpassed 1,200,000 copies in the UK, by the Official Charts Company.

Marley and then bands recorded Exodus in London, in comparison to the story of Moses leading the Israelite out of Egypt and the Rastafarian desire for repatriation, not leaving out his own little trials faced in Jamaica.

In 1976, only two days before their scheduled peace concert, to address unity between the two rival political parties, Bob & Rita shot to be killed, leaving Marley to flee the island to seek refuge in London.

Exodus made its way to # 14 on the UK Singles chart and # 20 on the Billboard R&B chart. The album placed at # 27 on the UK Albums charts, while sitting at # 20 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Since the debut of the Bob Marley: One Love biopic, the album has appeared on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, currently sitting at # 4, with the UK Albums chart # 49.

His grandson Skip Marley recently covered the track for the Bob Marley: One Love (Music Inspired By The Film) album.

Dancehall recording artist Shenseea also did a wonderful cover for his hit song titled No woman No Cry.
